Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Dog shot: Deputies were advised of an animal complaint at 11:29 p.m. on Dec. 10 that occurred in the 6300 mile of County Road 233 in Silt, in which a dog was shot for harassing livestock. Deputies responded to the scene and investigated the incident.

Burglary: At 1:06 p.m. on Dec. 11, deputies were advised of a burglary of a private residence in the 600 mile of County Road 321 near Rifle. Deputies responded and investigated the incident. The case is closed pending further leads.



Child abuse: Deputies received a report at 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 9 of possible child abuse that occurred at a residence in the 300 block of Rainbow Drive in Silt. Deputies investigated the incident and took Joe Anthony Gonzales, 26, of Silt, to the Garfield County Jail.
