Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Driving under the influence: A Deputy contacted a vehicle at 3:36 a.m. on Dec. 9 on Eagle Ridge Drive in Battlement Mesa for failing to drive in the designated lane. Anthoney James Cooley, 41, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and transported to Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
Harassment: Deputies responded to a disturbance at 5:57 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the 100 block of Ridge View Place near Parachute. Angela Anne Steinke, 48, of Loveland, was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail. She was released on bond.
Driving under the influence: Deputies contacted a driver at 2:39 a.m. on Dec. 10 on Highway 82 outside of Glenwood Springs for failing to drive in a single lane. Pedro Chavez Varela, 42, of Gypsum, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving under restraint. He was released on bond.
Burglary, criminal mischief: A deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle at 5:36 a.m. on Dec. 10 at the ECOS plant on airport road in Rifle. Jake Nathaniel Julius, 24, of Silt, was arrested for violation of bail bond conditions and burglary charges.
Harassment, restraining order violation: Deputies responded to a disturbance at 6:21 a.m. on Dec. 10 at a residence in the 27000 block of Highway 6 in Rifle. After completing their investigation of the disturbance, deputies took Lisa Lorraine Mawris, 34, of Rifle, into custody and booked her into the Garfield County Jail.
False information to deputies: Deputies contacted a woman at 10:10 a.m. on Dec. 10 in the 100 block of Poppy Court near Parachute. Juanita Jennifer Neve Fleming, 44, of Parachute, gave false information to deputies and was taken into custody and transported to the Garfield County Jail. She was released on bond.
Warrant arrest, violation of a restraining order: Deputies, along with Rifle police, contacted a vehicle at 2:19 p.m. on Dec. 10 in the 27000 block of Highway 6 near Rifle. Alfred Elias Moreno, 31, of Rifle, was taken into custody on ten outstanding warrants.
Driving under the influence: At 4:02 a.m. on Dec. 11, deputies contacted a driver at milemarker 1.5 on County Road 100 near Carbondale for failing to drive in a single lane. Martin Delgado, 32, of Carbondale, was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was released on bond.
Warrant arrest: A deputy and members of the Parachute Police Department responded to a residence in the 200 block of Tamarisk Trail at 5:36 p.m. on Dec. 11 near Parachute attempting to locate a man with an active warrant. Robert Johnson, 25, of Glenwood Springs, was located at the residence and transported to the Garfield County Jail.
