Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Warrant arrest: A deputy contacted a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 900 block of Main Street in Silt at 4:02 p.m. on Dec. 22. Richard Gene Hannesson, Jr., 36, of Silt, was found to have a revoked license and two active warrants. Hannesson was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail.

Possession: Deputies contacted a motorist at 7:24 p.m. on Dec. 22 on Interstate 70 outside of Parachute for a traffic violation. Deputies discovered less than two ounces of marijuana in the vehicle and paraphernalia. The marijuana and paraphernalia were seized, the passenger, Sydni Raylene Vangundy, 19, of Colorado Springs, was released on a summons for the drug violations, and the driver, Dillon Scott Vangundy, 19, of Grand Junction, was released on a traffic citation.



Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a criminal mischief call at 6:41 p.m. on Dec. 23 in the 100 block of Silver Plume Drive in Parachute. The case is closed pending further leads.

Harassment, trespass: Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence at 12:23 a.m. on Dec. 24 in the 300 block of Apple Drive in New Castle. After completing their investigation, deputies took Ryan Leroy Bovee, 29, of New Castle, into custody and transported him to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.



Driving under the influence: Deputies stopped a vehicle at 2:25 a.m. on Dec. 24 in the 500 mile of County Road 210 outside of Rifle for a traffic violation. The driver, Oscar Nunez-Marquez, 36, of Rifle, showed signs of impairment and was arrested and transported to Garfield County Jail for multiple traffic violations. The passenger, Baldomero Olivas-Morales, 41, of Rifle, was released on a citation for an open container. Nunez-Marquez was released on bond.

Driving under the influence: Deputies stopped a motorist on Highway 82 in Glenwood Springs at 3:56 a.m. on Dec. 24 for a traffic violation. Deputies observed that the driver was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Kristen Renee McDaniel, 29, of Glenwood Springs, was taken into custody and transported and booked into the Garfield County Jail. She was released on bond.

Warrant arrest: At 12:42 p.m. on Dec. 24, deputies observed a man in a vehicle in the 100 block of Highway 6 in New Castle that had an active warrant for his arrest. Saul Quintana Montes, 55, of Glenwood Springs, was taken into custody.

Dog causes accident: At 3:38 p.m. on Dec. 24, deputies responded to an accident at County Road 154 and Highway 82 south of Glenwood Springs that was caused by a dog. Caterina Florenza Savino, 49, of Littleton, was cited for dog at large.

Harassment: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of Rio Seco Road in Silt at 11:27 p.m. on Dec. 24. Deputies took Tony Lee Harrah, 43, of Silt, into custody and transported him to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.

Warrant arrest: Deputies were contacted by Basalt Police at 5:29 p.m. on Dec. 25 because they had a man in custody who had a Garfield County warrant. Deputies responded and took custody of Michael Morrison, 23, of Carbondale. He was released on bond.

Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 6:31 p.m. on Dec. 25 in the 100 block of Jessica Lane in Battlement Mesa. Jeremy Scott Busby, 37, of Parachute, was arrested and taken to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.

Driving under restraint: A deputy contacted a vehicle for speeding at 9:42 a.m. on Dec. 27 in the 5000 mile of County Road 346 in Rifle. Kathleen Marie Bitterman, 60, of Glenwood Springs, was allegedly driving without a valid license. Bitterman was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail. She was released on bond.

Theft: Deputies took a theft report at 10:49 a.m. on Dec. 27 of a solar panel battery at Stone Quarry Road and County Road 302 near Parachute. The case is closed pending further information or leads.

Driving under the influence: Regina Kay Haywood, 45, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 7:32 p.m. on Dec. 27 following a REDDI report in the 6300 mile of County Road 335 near New Castle. She was released on bond.

Warrant arrest: Deputies arrested William Lewis Riddle, Jr., 22, of Glenwood Springs, at 1:33 a.m. on Dec. 28 in the 700 block of Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs on multiple warrants. He was released on bond.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a residence in the 4200 mile of County Road 103 outside of Carbondale at 1:04 p.m. on Dec. 28 and contacted a woman who was found to have a Garfield County warrant. Suzan Rupert Wilson, 39, of Carbondale, was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail. She was released on bond.

Domestic violence, criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a civil standby call at 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 28 in the 3900 mile of County Road 100. After investigation it was determined that criminal mischief and domestic violence was involved and Robert Leroy James, 36, of Carbondale, was taken into custody and booked into the Garfield County Jail.

Stolen vehicle: Deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle at 1:44 a.m. on Dec. 29 in the 5400 mile of County Road 154 near Glenwood Springs. After taking the report, deputies recovered the vehicle in Glenwood Springs. The case is still under investigation.

Driving under restraint: Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 4:07 a.m. on Dec. 29 in the 5000 mile of County Road 335 near New Castle for defective headlamps. During the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver had a canceled driver’s license and fictitious plates. Tiffanie Dawn Buchholz, 39, of New Castle, was released on a summons and the vehicle was impounded.

Warrant arrest: A deputy responded to a residence at 10:23 a.m. on Dec. 29 in the 16000 mile of Highway 82 outside of Carbondale and contacted a man who was found to have two warrants. Victor Salvador-Tamayo, 19, of Carbondale was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail.

Driving under the influence: A deputy contacted a vehicle at 10:24 p.m. on Dec. 29 on Highway 82 outside of Glenwood Springs for a traffic violation. Arthur W. Hood, Jr., 61, of Glenwood Springs, was found to be intoxicated and was transported to Garfield County Jail.

Trespass: Deputies responded to a trespass at 3:47 p.m. on Dec. 30 in the 2000 mile on County Road 321 near Rifle. Francisco Santana, 24, was issued a summons and released.
