Garfield County Sheriff’s Report

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under the influence, warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a vehicle at 6:25 p.m. on Dec. 30 on Highway 82 outside of Glenwood Springs for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Jose Luis Perez Vazquez, 47, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, multiple traffic violations and a warrant.

Disorderly conduct: Deputies were advised of a weapons violation that occurred at 4:47 p.m. on Dec. 31 on Interstate 70 outside of Glenwood Springs. Denis Raymond Seuferer, 63, of Grand Junction was contacted and issued a summons and released.

Invalid plates: A deputy contacted a vehicle at 8:53 p.m. on Dec. 31 on Interstate 70 outside of Rifle. The vehicle was found to have fictitious plates and was impounded. Michael Patrick Oriley, 39, of Aurora, was issued a summons.

Underage drinking, possession: A deputy contacted a vehicle at 11:51 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Mel Ray Road and County Road 130 outside of Glenwood Springs for a traffic violation. Juveniles were found to be in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and alcohol. All of the subjects were issued a summons.

Underage drinking: Deputies received an EMS call at 4:50 a.m. on Jan. 1 in the 400 block of Lodgepole Circle in Parachute. A juvenile was transported to Grand River Hospital for treatment. Deputies issued the juvenile a summons for underage drinking.

Driving under the influence, warrant arrest: A deputy contacted a vehicle at 3:01 a.m. on Jan. 1 on Interstate 70 outside of New Castle for a traffic violation. Kevin Jonathan Buechler, 20, of Rifle, was found to be intoxicated and had an outstanding warrant. He was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Assault: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 5:07 a.m. on Jan. 1 at a residence in the 500 block of Tamarisk Trail in Parachute. Deputies investigated and took Michael Christopher Harris, 31, of Parachute into custody on a charge of assault in the third degree and transported him to the Garfield County Jail.

Possession: At 12:57 p.m. on Jan. 2, deputies were advised of a possible drug violation in the 700 mile of County Road 112 outside of Carbondale. Mary Rachael Ricke, 23, of Carbondale, was arrested on multiple drug related charges. She was released on bond.

Possession, warrant arrest: Deputies stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of West Battlement Parkway in Battlement Mesa for failure to stop at a stop sign. Upon contacting the vehicle, deputies learned the driver, Paulo Pena Villasano, 18, of Clifton, had a warrant for his arrest. Deputies also found alcohol and marijuana in the vehicle, which was occupied by underage adults and juveniles. Evan Scott Cornell, 18, of Clifton, was issued summons for possession of marijuana. Two juveniles were charged with underage drinking, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The juveniles were held until their parents could arrive on scene and take custody of them. Villasano was then arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail where he was booked in on the warrant.
