Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a call of criminal mischief at 12:05 a.m. on Feb. 16 in the 27000 block of Highway 6 in Rifle. There are no suspects at this time and this case is closed pending further information or leads.
Warrant arrest, driving under restraint: Deputies stopped a vehicle at 2 a.m. on Feb. 16 at E. 5th Street and Clarkson Avenue in Rifle for a traffic violation. Randa Michelle Martin, 23, of Rifle, was arrested on a warrant and for driving under restraint and was lodged at the Garfield County Jail. She was later released on bond.
Driving under restraint: Deputies contacted a vehicle at Midland Avenue and Wulfsohn Road for a traffic violation at 3:38 p.m. on Feb. 16 in Glenwood Springs. John Grant Sampson, 52, of Carbondale, was released on a summons for driving under restraint, failure to provide proof of insurance and invalid plates. The vehicle was towed.
Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a citizens’ assist call at 10:32 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the 1300 mile of County Road 129 near No Name. A woman said that she was kicked out of a vehicle and left behind in No Name. After running clearances through dispatch, it was determined that the woman had an active warrant out of Mesa County. Garfield County Deputies transported Liandre McLaren, 39, of Lexington, to the Garfield County line and gave custody over to Mesa County Sheriff’s Office in the De Beque area.
Violation of a restraining order: At 5:31 a.m. on Feb. 17, deputies responded to an accident in the 2000 mile of County Road 244 outside of Rifle. Upon contacting the parties involved, it was learned that one of the men was in violation of a restraining order. Timothy Edward Stapleton, 24, of Grand Junction, was subsequently arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
Violation of a restraining order: Deputies investigated a violation of protection order at 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 17 in the 100 block of W. Bonanza Place in Battlement Mesa. Leslie Foster Hoag, 39, of Parachute, was taken into custody and transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
