Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under restraint: Deputies stopped a vehicle at County Roads 293 and 210 outside of Rifle for a traffic violation at 9:32 a.m. on April 6. The driver’s driving status was revoked. Brenda Y. Ortega-Carrillo, 25, of Rifle, was issued a summons for driving with a revoked license and violating child restraint provisions.

Burglary: A deputy responded to a possible burglary at 5:38 p.m. on April 6 in the 200 block of Snowcap Circle near Carbondale. No suspects were identified or evidence discovered. The case is closed and inactive pending the development of further evidence.



Phone scam: Deputies took a report of a phone scam at 6:54 a.m. on April 7 in the 200 block of Fox Run Road in Rifle. The caller was impersonating a relative in an attempt to have money wired through Western Union to another country. The case is closed.
