Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Trespass: At 4:13 p.m. on May 17, deputies located a transient near Carbondale who was trespassing on Colorado Department of Transportation property at Highways 133 and 82. The transient was issued a summons for trespassing.
Warrant arrest: At 6:20 p.m. on May 17, deputies responded to the court house in Rifle for a woman with an active warrant. Gina Renee McCormick, 40, of Rifle, was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail for the warrant.
Assault, domestic violence: At 11:17 p.m. on May 17, deputies took a report of a domestic violence incident in the 100 block of Beaver Court in Glenwood Springs. Based on the investigation, a warrant was obtained and Wesley Taylor Morris, 35, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail for assault in the third degree, domestic violence and criminal mischief.
Underage drinking: At 4:01 a.m. on May 18, deputies contacted multiple persons in the 4000 mile of County Road 117 near Glenwood Springs. After further investigation, Garrett Henry Hatch, 20, of Silt, Alexander Lewis Guether, 20, of Glenwood Springs, Dannyl Weller, 20, of Glenwood Springs, Nathaniel Scott Gendreau, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Bernardo Santacruz-Estrada, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Thomas Jordan Berger, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Estavan Jose Sedlilo, 18, of Glenwood Springs and Michael Joseph Moreno, 18, of Glenwood Springs, were issued summonses for minor in possession.
Vicious dogs: Garfield County Animal Control responded to a citizen complaint of aggressive dogs at large in the 100 block of Little Echo Drive in Parachute at 12:28 p.m. on May 18. The dogs’ owner, Julio Ismael Vega Maldonado, 25, of Parachute, was contacted and issued a summons for a vicious animal and dog at large.
Harassment, criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a domestic violence call at 1:16 p.m. on May 18 in the 600 block of Village Drive in Rifle. After completing their investigation, deputies arrested Rosa Padron, 29, of Rifle, on charges of harassment and criminal mischief and transported her to the Garfield County Jail.
Stolen bike: A deputy took a stolen bicycle report at 2:19 p.m. on May 19. A woman reported her bicycle was stolen while she was on a walk in the 500 block of Canyon Creek Drive.
Concealed weapon, warrant arrest, possession: At 7:17 p.m. on May 19, deputies contacted a man walking on Interstate 70 near Rifle. The man was found to be carrying a concealed weapon, in possession of a small amount of marijuana, and had an active warrant for his arrest. Jerry Dewayne Tafoya, 41, of Meeker, was arrested for the concealed weapon, the marijuana and the warrant and transported to the Garfield County Jail.
Warrant arrest: A deputy contacted two pedestrians at 1:29 a.m. on May 20 in the 6500 mile of County Road 6500 near New Castle. One of the two, Luis Adolfo Garcia, 29, of New Castle, was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail on an active warrant.
Driving under the influence: Deputies contacted a vehicle at 4:05 a.m. on May 20 at County Road 109 and River Bluff outside of Carbondale for a variety of traffic violations. Michael Edward Rochowiak, 25, of Glenwood Springs, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with excessive alcohol content and transported to the Garfield County Jail. He was released on bond.
Driving under the influence, trespass: A deputy contacted a vehicle at 11:25 p.m. on May 20 on Interstate 70 outside of Silt. The driver, Bartolo Mendoza, 27, of Silt, fled from the vehicle, but was later found and arrested for suspicion of DUI, open container and trespassing and was transported to the Garfield County Jail.
Sex offender registration violation: Deputies are investigating a sex offender registration violation that occurred on Battlement Mesa at 12:36 p.m. on May 22. The case is currently open and active.
Vicious dog: At 3:55 a.m. on May 21, a deputy responded to a dog bite call in the 100 block of Bent Creek Circle in Parachute. A juvenile male was treated for his injuries on scene by EMS. The owner of the dog, Christian Shaunta Bellard, 27, of Parachute, was issued a summons for dog at large and ownership of a dangerous animal. The dog will be quarantined for a period of 10 days.
Warrant arrest, possession: At 10:31 p.m. on May 21, a deputy contacted a vehicle on Interstate 70 outside of Parachute for speeding. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a statewide warrant out of Mesa County, was driving under restraint and was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Evan Michael Castillo, 22, of Clifton, was arrested and transported to Garfield County Jail for the warrant, driving under restraint and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle, Kenneth Albert Grater, 22, of Grand Junction, was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Warrant arrest: A man was arrested at the Garfield County Jail on a Garfield County warrant at 12:01 a.m. on May 22. Alexander Bion Smalling, 24, of Glenwood Springs, was lodged at the Garfield County Jail for the warrant. He was released on bond.
Warrant arrest: At 12:37 a.m. on May 22, deputies contacted a man at a residence in the 100 block of E. Carson Circle in Parachute whom they knew to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Deputies took David Alan Perkins, 31, of Parachute, into custody and transported him to the Garfield County Jail for the warrant. He was released on bond.
Warrant arrest: At 12:40 a.m. on May 22, deputies contacted a man who was the subject of a warrant for his arrest in the 1000 block of Wheel Drive in Carbondale. Aaron Joseph Montes, 26, of Carbondale, was taken into custody without incident.
Disorderly conduct: At 1:23 a.m. on May 22, deputies responded to a 911 call of a disturbance in progress in the 27600 block of Highway 6 outside of Rifle. Mark David Salazar, 49, of Rifle, and Jad Brandon Locke, 31, of Rifle, were each issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
Assault: At 11:46 p.m. on May 22, deputies took a report of second-degree assault on a detentions deputy in the Garfield County Jail. Craig Marshall Dance, 61, of Glenwood Springs, was cited with second-degree assault.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man in the 100 block of Panoramic Drive outside of Silt at 4:30 p.m. on May 22 with an active warrant out of Garfield County. Michael Alexander Newton, 42, of Silt, was arrested and was transported to the Garfield County Jail for the warrant. He was released on bond.
