Gary Bratcher

Gary Bratcher, of Aspen, Colo., died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Aspen, from lung cancer. He was 48.

He was born Aug. 2, 1954, in Atlanta, Ga., to Winston and Doris Bratcher. The family moved to Tampa, Fla., when he was 10.

He graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1972 and attended the University of Southern Florida.

In 1984, Mr. Bratcher moved to Aspen. He was employed by the Roaring Fork Transit Agency.

He had a passion for his family and friends, for the Colorado mountains and for the oceans of the world. Mr. Bratcher was an avid scuba diver and was certified as an instructor in January.

Mr. Bratcher is survived by parents Winston and Doris Bratcher, of Tampa; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Maureen Bratcher, of Carbondale, Colo.; sister and brother-in-law Susan and Carlos Ranon, of Tampa; and nieces and nephews Nadina Bratcher, of Carbondale, and Lisa, Sara and Andrew Ranon, of Tampa.
