Gary Walton Duffy

Gary Walton Duffy, 55, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at his residence in Clifton. Gary was born Oct. 21, 1950, in Glenwood Springs, to Walton and Phyllis Murr Duffy. Gary spent his childhood in Silt and graduated from Rifle High School. Gary married Sharon B. Haakinson on Nov. 16, 2002, in Montrose. Gary was devoted to his family and enjoyed having his children around him. He was a cowboy and a ranch hand. He spent most of his adult life working on Divide Creek, Piance Creek and in the Montrose area on various ranches. Gary lived for a time in Idaho and worked building a theme park. Gary is survived by his wife; sons Sean W. Duffy, of Missoula, Mont., and Gary W. Duffy, of Rangeley; daughters Sharla “Duffy” Lewinight, of Lincoln, Mont., Tiana Willich, of Loveland, Lesa (Cary) Webb, of Spokane, Wash., and Darci (Tom) Rickert, of Sahuarita, Ariz.; brother Brad Duffy, of Rifle; sister Shannon Jewell, of Rifle; stepfather Denzel Bostelman, of Grand Junction; stepmother JoAnn Duffy, of Rifle; 11 grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and four stepbrothers. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kevin Bostelman. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado at P.O.
