Gene Francis Fender
Gene Francis Fender, of Carbondale, passed away March 20, 2011 at Heritage Park Care Center. She was 88.
Gene was born April 1, 1922 to Orville and Irene (Kaiser) Fender at the family ranch outside of Carbondale.
She worked as a typist for the Defense Department during WWII.
Gene is survived by her nieces, Debra and Doreen Fender and grandnephew, Niklas Protsman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Orville “Bud” Fender, Jr.

Forest Service investigates Independence Pass snowmobiling case; alleged culprit posted pictures on social media
Numerous people have identified Breckenridge resident David Lesh as one of the men riding snowmobiles on snow-free terrain near Aspen. Lesh has posted several pictures of his illegal activity on social media, including snowmobiling at what he identified as the summit of Mount Elbert.
