George Oliver Snook Sr.

George O. Snook Sr. passed away in his sleep May 10, 2006, at home in Silt.He was born June 28, 1920, to Benjamin and Goldie (Robertson) Snook.George was a retired Teamster truck driver for Morris/Knudson Construction Company, who worked at the Redstone mine for 20 years. During his final years, he enjoyed his home and raising great veggies for family and friends. George was always available to help a friend fix any kind of problem. He loved to camp, fish and hunt. Even in his final days, all he could think of was when he would be well enough to go fishing. George was a great husband to Anita and a great father to George Jr. and Aaron. The shining light in his life was his great-granddaughter, Cicilee.George is survived by his eternal wife; sons; daughter-in-law Cindy Snook Jr. of Montrose; sisters Bernice (Lawrence) Chadwick of Minturn, Neva (Bill) Nottingham of Burns, Marie Landini, Millie (Arnold) Nottingham, Marge Osborn of Grand Junction; and brother Henry Snook of Glenwood Springs.He was preceded in death by brothers James and Clarence Snook.Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose will be handling the arrangements.
