Glenwood Springs artist Annette Roberts-Gray has created a distinctive way to honor Memorial Day.

The artist’s “In Memory: A Reminder of Individual Sacrifice and the Cost of War” memorial installation will be displayed at the Red Brick Council for the Arts, 110 East Hallam St., Aspen, on Monday.

“Each porcelain vase is embossed with the name, age, date of death and service branch of a soldier killed in the U.S.-led invasion and occupation of Iraq,” Roberts-Gray said, via e-mail.

The vases, now nearly 1,000 in number, will be exhibited at the Red Brick in the new west-side addition of the building as part of the group show titled, “Five Fools and A Genius,” showing May 29 through June 22.Roberts-Gray has been working on “In Memory,” which was displayed earlier this year in the “Best of Colorado Artists” exhibition at Denver International Airport, for 2 1/2 years
