Glenwood Canyon Resort focuses on rescue effort

Glenwood Canyon Resort owner Kevin Schneider released a statement today, saying that the search efforts for a missing man is the top priority for him and the company.

Schneider confirmed that the missing man is an employee at the resort, and that the man’s family has been contacted.

“We are using every resource available to assist in the rescue,” Schneider said. “The family has been contacted and we are keeping them informed.”

Garfield County Search and Rescue resumed search efforts this morning.

The incident happened Wednesday shortly after 3 p.m. when three men were attempting to cross the Colorado River near No Name via a pulley system in an old cable car. The men were knocked into the water when the fast-moving river hit the cable car. Two men made it to shore, while the third was swept down river.

According to Garfield County Sheriff’s spokesman Phil Strouse, none of the men were wearing any type of flotation jackets.

The missing man’s name has not been released.

The accident did not involved the new zipline attraction at the resort.

Glenwood Canyon Resort also announced today that a grand opening for the new zipline scheduled for Saturday has been postponed indefinitely.

This story will be undated when further details are released.
