Glenwood election forum is Wednesday

The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association hosts its annual Issues and Answers Forum beginning 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Glenwood Springs City Hall.

The event is co-sponsored by the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, Colorado West Broadcasting (KMTS) and local State Farm Insurance agents Jeff Leonard and Dee McCown.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Ron Milhorn, news director of Colorado West Broadcasting/KMTS Radio, will moderate. The event will also be broadcast live on KMTS.



Confirmed candidates attending include: Sen. Randy Baumgardner, R, and Emily Tracy, D, candidates for state Senate District 8; Sherry Caloia, D (incumbent), Jeff Cheney, R, and Chip McCrory, independent, candidates running for 9th Judicial District Attorney; and John Martin, R (incumbent) and John Acha, D, candidates running for Garfield County commissioner.

Democrat Gail Schwartz will be present and a statement will be read on behalf of U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R, candidates for Colorado’s 3rd District Congressional seat.



Other participants include representatives speaking in favor and against Colorado Amendment 69 (ColoradoCare) and Amendment 71 on requirements for initiated constitutional amendments. Brief statements will be given regarding Colorado Amendment 70, a state minimum wage proposal, and Glenwood Springs Ballot Question 2-H & 2-I, the acquisitions and improvements sales tax extension.
