Glenwood Meadows preliminary site plan presented tonight

The Glenwood Meadows retail development, a new drive-in restaurant in West Glenwood, and final agreements needed for the Valley View Hospital expansion highlight Thursday’s Glenwood Springs City Council meeting.Council members will meet at 5 p.m. for a work session with the River Commission on the proposed $990,000 whitewater park alterations in the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers near Two Rivers Park.Following the work session, the regular meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 101 W. 8th St.Glenwood Meadows developer Robert Macgregor and a new partner in the venture, Skip Miller, president of Miller Weingarten Realty Inc. of Englewood, will present plans for the Meadows retail project.The centerpiece of the 350,000-square-foot retail development is a 125,000-square-foot Target store. Miller expects to lure the retail giant to Glenwood Springs, although a company spokesman said Target is also looking at locating a store at the Crystal River Marketplace in Carbondale.This presentation is a concept review. The next step is for the developers to apply for a major development permit.City Council will also hear a concept review for a drive-in Grill & Chill restaurant, part of the Dairy Queen chain, for the Gilstrap subdivision in West Glenwood. The applicants are John Petit and Richard Gilstrap.
