Glenwood meeting will focus on the Hwy 82 optimization plan

GLENWOOD SPRINGS Commuters and area residents are invited to attend an open house regarding the Highway 82 corridor optimization plan for Glenwood Springs on Wednesday, Feb. 27, between 4 and 7 p.m.The informal meeting is a partnership between the city, the Colorado Department of Transportation and Garfield County. The purpose of the plan is to evaluate improvement alternatives that would accommodate future north/south traffic through Glenwood Springs.The goal is to have people stop by and look at the plans and get residents input on which they favor, said project manager Jim Hanson with design consultant PBS&J.The open house will be at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, at 100 Wulfsohn Road. Representatives from the study team will be available to address questions and collect feedback about the plan.Its important to get residents input, Hanson said. This is a good chance for them to come by and see the different options and to speak about their concerns.Informational boards explaining the plans goals and objectives, as well as the alternatives under consideration, will be displayed at the meeting.
