Glenwood Springs appointed a new interim city manager, Steve Boyd

Steve Boyd

After almost one month since former City Manager Beverli Marshall was put on administrative leave — and then said to have resigned — Glenwood City Council unanimously voted to appoint Glenwood Springs Chief Operating Officer Steve Boyd.

Boyd acted as the city manager after the former city manager Debra Figero departed on July 8, 2022 and during the time the city conducted a job search for her replacement. Marshall was selected as the new city manager on Jan. 20, 2023, and began her job March 20, where Boyd continued to work as the interim manager.

“Welcome back,” Mayor Ingrid Wussow said to Boyd as she told him to take a seat in the manager’s chair in Council chambers. “We really appreciate your willingness to step back into this role.”

Boyd grew up in Glenwood Springs and was appointed as the financial director for the city in 2017.

Council decided to open the search for a new city manager internally for 13 days, which they did not offer last time they conducted a search. The internal job opening will last until Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.

Then, Council hopes to come back together on Sept. 21 to discuss the possible candidate pay and qualifications during a work session.

They agreed that they wanted to look into what should be updated involving what Council thinks the city of Glenwood Springs needs as a new leader.

The search for a new city manager will open up to the public on Sept. 21, but Council did agree that they did not want to pay another consulting company in the next search.
