Glenwood Springs council forum set for March 7
The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association will host an Issues and Answers Forum for City Council candidates on Tuesday, March 7.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Glenwood Springs City Hall. It is co-sponsored by the Post Independent, Colorado West Broadcasting (KMTS) and local State Farm Insurance agents Jeff Leonard and Dee McCown.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Ron Milhorn, news director of Colorado West Broadcasting/KMTS Radio, will moderate.
Glenwood residents will choose three new council members.
The at-large seat being vacated by Stephen Bershenyi due to term limits is being sought by former council members Shelley Kaup and Rick Davis, Downtown Development Authority board member Charlie Willman and restaurateur Jonathan Gorst.
Four candidates are running for the south Glenwood Ward 5 seat being vacated by outgoing Councilor Leo McKinney, who is also term-limited. They are occupational health and safety consultant Sarah Gordon; former Councilor Don Gillespie; Jonathan Godes, executive director for the Early Childhood Network; and Amber Wissing, who manages a local dentist office.
Just one candidate, Rick Voorhees, has put in for the Ward 2 seat being vacated in April by Matt Steckler, also due to term limits.
Election day is April 4, and ballots will be mailed March 13.
