Glenwood Springs man pens Western adventure novel

Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Do you ever long for a real Western adventure, one where good guys are completely good, bad guys are completely bad, and women are all beautiful, strong and fiery?Glenwood local Michael Chandler does. And he celebrates that fact.In his newest book, “Kincade’s Blood,” he dives right into that old world of saloons and lawlessness. The plot revolves around Kincade, a gunslinger who was stolen by Native Americans as a baby and who has returned to the white man’s world. In true Western fashion, as the hero he’s all that is good and pure about men. Through a chain of events, he is forced to confront Logan, the villain and true dark soul. Add to this mixture Josephine, a smart, gorgeous female, and you’ve got yourself an old-fashioned country drama playing itself out over 224 pages. “I hope people have this great sense of escapism, in this world that is so filled with gray, shades of gray,” said Chandler. He described today’s society, with its convoluted issues and dirty politicians. “Kincade’s Blood” doesn’t have any of that. In fact, Chandler thinks of his book, with its universal, black-and-white themes, as an antidote to it.He also promised a big twist, hidden somewhere in the story.Though Chandler has authored two books before “Kincade” (“Dreamweaving … The Secret To Overwhelming Your Business Competition” and “The Littlest Cowboy’s Christmas”), this is his first novel. Published internationally by Pelican, it can be found online at major booksellers and right here in Glenwood at Book Train and Through the Looking Glass. To hear Chandler tell it, “Kincade” doesn’t sound like a quirky or avant-garde thing. It’s not new-age or controversial. At its core, it seems, it’s about entertaining people, making what Chandler calls “a huge emotional bridge between each character and the reader.” “I’m hoping as they read about Kincade, and the kind of guy he is, I hope they say, ‘You know, that’s the kind of guy I’d like to know,'” he said, sounding pretty confident that would be the case.
