Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under the influence: At 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 2, police stopped a vehicle at Highway 6 and Devereux Road. Whitten Timothy Obrick, 22, of Rifle, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving, and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Warrant arrest: At 10:11 a.m. on Sept. 2, police responded to an apartment in the 2700 block of Midland Avenue for a report of a verbal dispute. Officers determined the arguing was only verbal and did not press charges, although Shelby Lyn Cummings, 21, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for an outstanding Garfield County warrant and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.



Driving under the influence: At 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, police were called to check on a woman leaving a business in the 3000 block of Sopris Drive in a car. Police contacted the vehicle a few minutes later and arrested Joanna Sandoval, 20, address unknown, for false reporting to authorities (gave false ID) and suspicion of driving under the influence, and booked her at the Garfield County Jail.

Open container: At 2:56 p.m. on Sept. 2, police responded to a report of a man passed out at Veltus Park. Matthew David Little, 33, of Glenwood Springs, was cited for having an open container of alcohol.



Public urination: At 12:33 a.m. on Sept. 3, police observed a man urinating in an alley in the 300 block of Eighth Street. Brennan Gregory Stahl, 32, of Greeley, was cited for urinating in public.

Assault: At 10:51 p.m. on Sept. 3, police were dispatched to an agency assist call at a residence in the 3000 block of Sopris Drive. Heather Lee Sorensen, 38, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and booked at the county jail on charges of third-degree assault and domestic violence.

Violation of a restraining order: At 2:19 a.m. on Sept. 4, police were advised of an incident where a patron was unable to pay his bar bill at an establishment in the 700 block of Grand Avenue. Darin Thomas Ryan, 36, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and charged with violation of a court order barring him from drinking alcohol, and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.
