Glenwood Springs police report
Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Marijuana: Officers were informed of five people allegedly smoking marijuana at the north end of the Grand Avenue pedestrian bridge at 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 12. Officers cited Daniel Jonathan Stoicich, 25, of Concord, Calif., Evans Malantrio Thompson, 35, of Gypsum, Jonathan Astorga, 19, of Glenwood Springs, Kandisse Wilson-Hansen, 21, of Glenwood Springs and Steven Jesse Schreiner, 25, of Glenwood Springs for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Parole violation: Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart at 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 12 regarding a person wanted on a parole violation. The officer located Shelley C. Koncher, 61, of Delta, arrested him and lodged him at the county jail.
Marijuana: Officers spotted two vehicles at Two Rivers Park at 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 12. When the officer tried to contact those inside, the drivers attempted to leave, so the officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver of one vehicle, Ryan Gregg Blanton, 26, of Grand Junction, was arrested on suspicion of possession of more than two ounces of marijuana, intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The other driver, Daniel James Enright, 52, of Morrison, was arrested on suspicion of purchase of marijuana by a person without a medical marijuana card.
Open container: Officers observed a man with an open can of beer near the Glenwood Springs Dog Park at 10 a.m. on Aug. 13. Bobby Ralph Walker, 60, of New Castle, was cited for open container violation.
Vicious animal: Police were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Sprucewood Lane at 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 13, where a young girl had suffered a dog bite. The dog was placed in a 10-day quarantine and its caretaker, Deborah Joyce Swartz, 53, of Glenwood Springs, was cited for harboring a vicious animal.
Driving under the influence: An officer observed a motorist run a red light at 22nd and Grand at 8:46 p.m. on Aug. 13. Ryan Joseph Weydahl, 20, of Carbondale, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and failure to obey a traffic signal.
Driving under the influence: Officers were called to a hit and run accident on I-70 at 1 a.m. on Aug. 14. Officers located the motorist who fled and arrested David Tapia-Delucio, 29, of New Castle, on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with expired plates, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Disorderly conduct: Officers were called to Valley View Hospital at 1:40 a.m. on Aug. 14 on a report of a man causing a disturbance and using foul language. Kenny Thompson, 25, of Tuba City, Ariz., was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and lodged at the county jail.
