Glenwood Springs Police Report
Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Driving under the influence: Police stopped a motorist for tailgating at 11:55 p.m. on Sept. 2 in the the 3000 block of South Glen Avenue. Gerardo Juarez-Velez, 31, of El Jebel was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and careless driving. He was later released on a summons.
Driving under the influence: Police stopped a motorist for a broken tail light at 3:15 a.m. on Sept. 3 in the 1800 block of Blake Avenue. Patrick Stephen Selby, 22, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
Harassment: Police were called to a report of harassment at a convenience store at midnight on Sept. 4. Philip Allen Plantz, 31, of Glenwood Springs was located later in the evening and arrested on suspicion of harassment and trespass.
Driving under the influence: Police stopped a motorist for speeding in the 100 block of Midland Avenue at 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 4. The driver, Ambar Celeste Gonzalez, 22, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, providing false identifying information, driving without proof of insurance, speeding 10 mph over the limit and driving with a license under restraint for a previous alcohol offense.
Vicious animal: Officers responded to Valley View Hospital at 10:40 a.m. on Sept. 4 on a report of a person who suffered a dog bite. Following an investigation, officers contacted the dog’s owner, Manuel Aguirre, 44, of Glenwood Springs and cited him for harboring a vicious animal.
Underage drinking: Officers were called to the Wal-Mart parking lot on a possible drunk driver report. They located a man and woman in a parked vehicle with an open container of beer. Roger Earl Mckean, 31, of Snowmass Village was cited for drinking in public and Lily Lolajean Lason, 18, address unknown, was cited for underage drinking.
Trespass: Officers were called about people trespassing at the Exit 116 Hot Pots at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 5. Antonio Andrade, 47, and Pilar Ceballos, 44, both of Glenwood Springs, were cited for trespass.
Illegal drugs: Officers were called to help the ambulance crew deal with a drug overdose call in the 900 block of Pitkin Avenue at 11 p.m. on Sept. 5. Kate Elizabeth Hedley, 24, and Matthew James Bowles, 25, both of Glenwood Springs were summoned into court for use of a controlled dangerous drug.
Warrant arrest: Jeffrey John Masanz, 44, of Rifle contacted police at 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 5 about entering a detox program. He was found to be wanted on a no-bond Garfield County warrant for trespass and was lodged at the county jail.
Warrant arrest: Officers observed a woman sleeping on a park bench in West Glenwood at 1:10 a.m. on Sept. 6. Maria Flores, 52, address unknown, was wanted on a $1,000 El Paso County warrant for false reporting, and was lodged in the county jail.
Driving under the influence: Officers stopped a motorist for careless driving at 7:10 a.m. on Sept. 6 in the 300 block of Ninth Street. The driver, Rebecca Marjorie Smith, 38, of Silt, was cited for driving under the influence and careless driving.
Underage drinking and driving: Officers stopped a vehicle at Devereux and Midland in West Glenwood at 11:57 p.m. on Sept. 7. The driver, Astria Nuttall, 19, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of underage drinking and driving, speeding 10 mph over the limit, failure to drive in a single lane, and illegal possession of alcohol. She was released on a summons to a sober party.
Underage drinking: Police were called to a disturbance at the Oakhurst Condos at 3 a.m. on Sept. 8. Ronni Lin Granato, 20, of Glenwood Springs was arrested for underage drinking.
Warrant arrest: Officers were advised of a man at the probation office wanted on a warrant. Justin T. Sanchez, 22, of Rifle, was arrested on a $5,000 Garfield County warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. He was also wanted on a Mesa County warrant, and was lodged in the county jail.
Drinking in public: Officers contacted a man drinking at the north end of the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Bridge. David Daniel Cain, 26, address unknown, was arrested on suspicion of having an open container of alcohol and obstructing a police officer.
Underage drinking: Officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of Park Drive at 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 9. They cited five people for underage drinking: Addison M. Bankhead, 20, address unknown; Jared Micah Berman, 20, of Stockton, N.J.; Michael Joseph McCance, 19, of Glenwood Springs; Natalie Teresa Orr, 19, of Glenwood Springs; and Tegan Nicole Reichenbach, 18, address unknown.
Littering: Officers cited Carl Joe Pester, 51, address unknown, for littering in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue at 4 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Drinking in public: Officers observed a woman drinking from a container of alcohol while on the sidewalk in the 800 block of Grand Avenue at 11 p.m. Sept. 9. Crystal Abeyta, 32, of Clifton was cited for drinking in public.
Drinking in public: Officers observed a man walking down the 1000 block of Grand Avenue with an open beer bottle in his hand. He then stashed it before walking into the 7-Eleven convenience store. Bryan Philip Schard, 29, of New Castle was cited for drinking in public.
Driving under the influence: An officer observed a motorist fail to stop for the red arrow light at Eighth and Grand at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. The driver, Ethan Fletcher Nott, 20, Glenwood Springs was cited for driving under the influence, underage drinking, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disobeying a traffic light. A passenger in the car, Whitney H. Nott, 20, address unknown, was cited for underage drinking.
Disorderly conduct: Officers cited Rodney Holmnes Smith, 50, of Glenwood Springs for disorderly conduct and drinking in public after contacting him in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue at 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 11.
Shoplifting: Police were called to the Glenwood Springs Mall at 3 p.m. on Sept. 11 on a report of a woman who allegedly shoplifted items from three stores. The suspect, Lariussa Paige Green, 18, of Rifle returned the stolen items and was cited for two counts of shoplifting items in total value of $56.
Trespass, warrant arrest: Officers contacted eight people trespassing at the Exit 116 Hot Pots at 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 11. Six were cited for trespass: Anael Resino, 31, of Boulder; Josie Fenton, 32, of Boulder; Mark A. Lewandowski, 27, of Lafayette; Matthew T. Robinson, 26, of Boulder; Robert Alexander Sanders, 29, of Longmont; and Stephen M. Hayes, 27, of Boulder. Two others were arrested on warrants: Claire Marie Sill, 24, of Longmont, and Raymond Gene Sullivan, 40, address unknown.
Noise violation: Officers were called to a residence in the 1500 block of Crawford Way at 11 p.m. on Sept. 11 for loud noise. Ty Buckley Myer, 18, of Glenwood Springs was cited for violating the noise ordinance for playing a car stereo too loud.
