Glenwood Springs Police Report
Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Shoplifting: An investigation into an alleged shoplifting incident at a store in the 700 block of Grand Avenue reported at 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 24 resulted in a citation to Diana Rivera, 59, of Silt, for petty theft. The items were a necklace and earrings valued at $18.95.
Trespass: Police contacted a man and woman at the Exit 116 Hot Pots at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 24. Rudy McEntire, 34, of Boulder, and Sharon DePauw, unknown age or address, were cited for trespass.
Driving under the influence: Police were called to a hit and run accident at Eighth and Grand at 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 28. Larry Dean Beckwith, 66, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, careless driving and failure to report an accident.
Drinking in public: Police observed a man holding an open beer bottle on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Grand Avenue at 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 29. Kelly J. Mecklenburg, 43, of Glenwood Springs was cited for open container violation.
Driving under the influence: An officer observed a vehicle weaving and failing to signal when changing lanes in the 3400 block of South Glen Avenue at 2 a.m. on Oct. 29. Danforth Earl Holley, 49, of Glenwood Springs was summoned for driving under the influence and failure to drive in a single lane. A passenger in the car, James Russell Kansas Jr., 39, of Glenwood Springs was found to be under a court order barring him from drinking, and was arrested on suspicion of violating that order.
Warrant arrest: An officer contacted a man at a residence in the 1000 block of Cooper Avenue at 3 p.m. on Oct. 19. Dion Benjamin Herrera, 41, of Hartsel was wanted on a $1,500 Garfield County warrant for failure to comply in a drunk driving case and was arrested.
Marijuana: Officers contacted a man seen urinating in an alley in the 100 block of Sixth Street at 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 29. Dillon Edward Fagan, 18, of Basalt was summoned for possession of an illegal weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, and urinating in public.
Driving while ability impaired: An officer observed a vehicle weaving in the 100 block of Sixth Street at 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 30. The driver, Cruz Landa, 35, of Silt, was summoned for driving while ability impaired and failure to drive in a single lane.
Underage drinking: Officers responded to the 1100 block of Cooper Avenue at 2:50 a.m. Oct. 30 on a suspicious persons report. Joel Jose Serpas, 20, of Glenwood Springs and Matthew David Seaver, age and address unknown, were arrested for underage drinking and lodged in the county jail.
Probation violation: Police were called to a disturbance in the 900 block of Palmer Avenue at 10:25 p.m. on Oct. 30. Douglas Thomas Daury, 29, of Glenwood Springs was arrested for violation of a probation order and lodged in the county jail.
