Glenwood Springs Police Report

Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a car at 10:45 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Sunset Ridge Court and Highway 6 for speeding 10-19 mph over the speed limit and detected signs of intoxication on the driver. Shari Lyn Wilson, 48, of Glenwood Springs, was released on a summons for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding.

Warrant arrest: Police contacted a man at 8:21 p.m. on Nov. 29 at a motel in the 100 block of West Sixth Street for an active warrant. John Anthony Tedesco, 45, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and lodged him at the Garfield County Jail.



Warrant arrest: Police were called to the Garfield County Courthouse at 11:20 a.m. on Dec. 1 for a man with an outstanding warrant. Brandon D Jensen, 25, of Rifle, was lodged in the Garfield County Jail.

Driving under the influence: Police contacted a vehicle for weaving at 11:01 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the 800 block of Blake Avenue. Police detected signs of intoxication from driver. Stephen Robert Petrella, 42, of Vail, was arrested for DUI after investigation. Petrella was released with a summons.



Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle at 2:40 a.m. on Dec. 2 in the 50000 block of Highway 6 for weaving. It was believed that the driver, Jose Antonio Valle Hernandez, 22, of Glenwood Springs, was under the influence of alcohol. Hernandez was released on a summons for driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive in a single lane.

Possession: Police responded to the 100 block of Eighth Street at 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 2 for a man who allegedly was in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Timothy Robert Denney, 49, of Commerce City, was issued summons and released.

Menacing, harassment: Police were called to a domestic dispute at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 in the 51000 block of Highway 6 in Glenwood Springs. Police arrested John Garcia-Hernandez, 29, of Glenwood Springs, for harassment, menacing, careless driving, driving under revocation and criminal impersonation. Garcia-Hernandez was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle for failing to stop at a red light at 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Sixth Street and Pine Street. Police detected signs of intoxication on the driver. After investigation, William Douglas Kettler, 49, of Mesquite, Nev., was cited for DUI and released on a summons.

Violation of a restraining order: Police took a call of an intoxicated male at 8:27 p.m. on Dec. 2 in the 700 block of Grand Avenue. Upon contact with the man it was learned that he had a protection order prohibiting him from possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages. Joshua Ben Welling Trevino, 31, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and lodged at the Garfield County Jail for violation of a protection order.

Public urination: At 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 3, police witnessed a man urinating in public in the alley between Wing and Cooper Streets. Dylan Thomas Weller, 24, of Glenwood Springs, was released with a summons for the charge.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle for weaving in the 1300 block of Bennett Avenue at 1:57 a.m. on Dec. 3. It was learned the driver had been drinking and was under the influence of alcohol. Jerred Sanchez, 21, of Parachute, was charged with DUI, DUI per se and weaving. He was released on a summons.

Warrant arrest, possession: At 11:38 a.m. on Dec. 3, police located a man in the 2900 block of Grand Avenue that had two warrants which were confirmed out of Garfield County. Benjamin Ryan White, 27, of Glenwood Springs, was placed under arrest and lodged at the Garfield County Jail. Officers also located marijuana on White and issued him a summons for possession.

Warrant arrest: Police assisted Department of Human Services with a home visit in the 51000 block of Highway 6 at 5:21 p.m. on Dec. 3 in regards to a child and her mother. The officers contacted a man with an active warrant at the residence and arrested Justin Lee Thompson, 20, of Glenwood Springs and lodged him at the Garfield County Jail.

Disorderly conduct: Police contacted a man at 12:16 a.m. on Dec. 3 for trying to start fights in the 300 block of Eighth Street. Jason Bryan Christo, 26, of St. Petersburg, Fla., was eventually arrested for cursing multiple times. He was uncooperative and taken to jail.

Driving under the influence, criminal impersonation: At 2:09 a.m. on Dec. 4, police contacted a vehicle in the 900 block of Colorado Avenue. Ivan Jesus Ramirez-Quezada, 21, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for driving under the influence, driving under restraint and criminal impersonation.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle for weaving at 2:15 a.m. on Dec. 4 on S. Glen Avenue near the Glenwood Springs city limits. Police arrested Jorge Luis Perez-Diaz, 33, of Aspen for DUI. He was later released with a summons.

Criminal mischief: Police were dispatched to an “in-progress” criminal mischief call at 11:10 a.m. on Dec. 5 at a service station in the 1300 block of Grand Avenue. Officers investigated and found that an item valued at $20 had been damaged. Further investigation revealed Christine Lynn Franklin, 38, of Glenwood Springs, to be the suspect; she was located later and was arrested and jailed on a charge of criminal mischief.

Theft by receiving: Police took a report of a found laptop computer at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the 2400 block of South Glen Avenue that was previously reported stolen. Police investigated the incident and arrested Getnet Desalegne Mekonnen, 23, of Carbondale, for theft of receiving. Mekonnen was issued a summons and released.

Negligence: Police were dispatched to a child abuse call in the 1100 block of Mount Sopris Drive. Police investigated and found that an elementary student had been left at school and the parent could not be located. Morgan Leigh Endner, 30, of Glenwood Springs, was later issued a summons to Garfield County court.

Speeding, possession: Police stopped a vehicle in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue at 9:41 p.m. on Dec. 6 for speeding and cited Kenton Ray Milton, 25, of Denver, for speeding, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Officer also cited Samanthia Symone Ford, 19, of Denver, for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both parties were released on summonses.

Driving under the influence, driving on the sidewalk: Police stopped a vehicle at 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 7 at South Grand Avenue and Oriole Street for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation, officers cited Sidney Ann Potts, 25, of Glenwood Springs, for driving upon the sidewalk, DUI and DUI per se. Potts was released on summons.

Warrant arrest: At 10:08 a.m. on Dec. 7, Theodore Edward Gumpher IV, 36, of New Castle, turned himself in at the Glenwood Springs Police Department lobby on an active Arrest Warrant. Gumpher was arrested and escorted to the Garfield County Jail.

Open container: Police observed a man walking on the sidewalk at 12:05 p.m. on Dec. 7 in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue with an open alcohol container. Thomas Lee Kelly, 61, of Glenwood Springs, was issued a summons.

Warrant arrests: Police were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Seventh Street for a report of parties with a warrant at 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 7. Justin Lee Thompson, 20, of Glenwood Springs, and Robert Ward Thompson, 50, of Glenwood Springs, were arrested and lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Warrant arrest: Police contacted a man with an active warrant at 5:47 p.m. on Dec. 8 at his residence in the 1300 block of Pitkin Avenue. Police arrested Daniel Dean Alvarado, 46, of Glenwood Springs, and lodged him at the Garfield County Jail.

Criminal impersonation, careless driving: Police responded to an accident at the Grand Avenue Bridge at 7:08 p.m. on Dec. 8. The driver had no identification and provided a name which was later learned to be false. Elmer Nolasco-Roqueno, 26, of Carbondale, was lodged at the Garfield County Jail for charges of driving without a valid license, careless driving and criminal impersonation.

Driving while ability impaired: Police contacted a vehicle at 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 9 in the 700 block of Cooper Avenue for not having any headlights on. When contacting the driver, police saw signs of intoxication. After investigation, police cited Valerie Ann Eason, 46, of Carbondale, for DWAI . Eason was released on a summons.

Harassment: Police were advised of a 911 hang-up at a residence in the 600 block of Overlin Drive at 10:05 p.m. on Dec. 9. Police responded to the residence and determined that a domestic violence incident occurred between a man and a woman; Jason Reuben Dale, 38, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested for harassment. Dale was lodged at the Garfield County Jail.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle on Seventh Street at 11:26 p.m. on Dec. 9 for driving without headlights. Police later learned that Jessica Hedges, 26, of Snowmass, was under the influence of alcohol. Hedges was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI per se and driving without headlight when required. She was released to a sober party.

Driving under the influence: Police stopped a vehicle at 2:09 a.m. on Dec. 11 in the 700 block of Cooper Avenue for traffic infractions. Upon further investigation, officers cited Lynnea C. Brown-Lazzara, 59, of Glenwood Springs, for failure to signal for a turn and DUI. Brown-Lazzara was released on summons.

Driving under the influence: Police responded to the Garfield County Jail at 3:23 a.m. on Dec. 11 where a man was reported to be intoxicated. Maurice George Parker, 43, of Virginia Beach, Va., was there to pick up a friend who had been lodged for a different charge. Upon contact with Parker, it was learned he had driven to the jail. Parker was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and lodged at the jail for DUI.

Driving under the influence, careless driving: Police contacted a vehicle in the 2700 block of S. Grand Avenue at 10:49 a.m. on Dec. 11 for speeding and dragging vehicle parts on the roadway. Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle, police observed signs of intoxication and learned that the vehicle had struck an unattended vehicle. Jose Jesus Garcia Casarez, 45, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested and lodged in the Garfield County Jail for DUI, DUI per se, speeding, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under canceled/denied license, no proof of insurance and careless driving.
