Glenwood Springs police report
Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Criminal mischief: At 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, police were dispatched to disturbance at a home in the 100 block of Soccer Field Road. Officers investigated and found that Jeremie John Harden, 30, of Glenwood Springs, had vandalized some property. Harden was arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail.
Shoplifting: Police were dispatched to a theft report at a retail store in the 100 block of West Meadows Drive at 12:17 p.m. on Dec. 18. Maria Romero, 44, of Carbondale, was cited for petty theft.
Sex assault: Following an investigation, police arrested Jose Ramiro Villegas-Marquez, 32, of Glenwood Springs on suspicion of sexual assault on a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was taken into custody at 5 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the police department.
Criminal attempt: Police were called to a parking lot in the 800 block of Cooper Avenue at 1 p.m. on Dec. 20 on a report of a man trying to enter a locked car. Richard Leslie Longtin, 54, of New Castle was contacted and arrested on suspicion of criminal attempt at trespass.
Warrant arrest: Police were called to a restaurant in the 900 block of Grand Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 to assist the ambulance crew for a man who had fallen and cut his head. Police learned the injured man was wanted on a $210 warrant for failure to appear in municipal court on a variety of drug charges. He was lodged in the county jail after being treated at Valley View Hospital.
Vicious dog: Police were called to the 3000 block of Blake Avenue on a report of a dog bite. Seth Roland Davis, 33, of Glenwood Springs was cited for animal at large and harboring a vicious dog.
Warrant arrest: A man was found passed out in the snow in the 3300 block of South Glen Avenue at 6 p.m. on Dec. 21. Karl Stewart Jones, 53, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and an earlier warrant.
Possession of drug paraphernalia: Officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in a private parking lot on Riverside Drive at 11 p.m. on Dec. 21. Jonathan Astorga, 19, of Glenwood Springs was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Assault: Officers were called to a bar in the 900 block of Grand Avenue at 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 22 for a fight. Evan Rogers Bates, 27, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of assault and lodged at the county jail.
Theft: An individual reported to police that property valued at $10,000 had been stolen and reported the name of the person believed to have the item. An arrest warrant was issued for Randall Kempton, 48, of Glenwood Springs , who was arrested at 10 a.m. on Dec. 22 in the 1100 block of Airport Road on suspicion of theft.
Violation of protective order: Police contacted a man in the 3100 block of Blake Ave. at 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 22 who was known to be under a court order barring him from drinking. Raymond Arnold Bedwell Jr., 48, of Glenwood Springs was cited for violating the court order.
Violation of protective order: Police contacted a man at a bar in the 800 block of Grand Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 who was known to be under a court order barring him from drinking. Shaun Richard Reed, 33, of Glenwood Springs was arrested for violating the court order.
Violation of protective order: Police contacted a woman in the 700 block of Grand Avenue at 1:50 a.m. over a disturbance. Sophia Rae Fetterhoff, 27, of Glenwood Springs was found to have been drinking in violation of a court order, and was arrested and lodged at the county jail.
Shoplifting: Police were called to City Market at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Ana Bertha Arreola Leal, 38, of Glenwood Springs was cited for petty theft of an item valued at $24.
Theft by receiving: Officers received a report on Dec. 23 of theft from a home. At 5 p.m. that day in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue, officers stopped a car driven by Keenan James Vanginkel, 19, of Carbondale and arrested him on a $1,000 warrant for theft by receiving. He was also found to be in possession of less than 6 ounces of marijuana, and was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and intent to sell marijuana.
Violation of protective order: Police responded to the 600 block of 21st Street at 6 p.m. on Dec. 23 on a report of a man violating a court protective order. Dale Simonson, 62, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of violating the order.
Careless driving: Police were called to an auto accident on I-70, where they found marijuana, alcohol, drug paraphernalia and prescription medicines in the vehicle. The driver, Josey Lynee Bower, 20, of Henderson was cited for careless driving and the passenger, Jacob Alan Garcia, 19, of Thornton, was cited for underage possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Harassment, warrant arrest: Police were called to a disturbance in the 800 block of Pitkin Avenue at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 24. The man, who was under a restraining order, had come to the house and pushed his wife. He then allegedly gave a false name to officers. Javier Banos Hernandez, 43, of Glenwood Springs was arrested on suspicion of criminal impersonation, harassment, violation of a restraining order and on a $576 warrant for an earlier assault charge from Carbondale. He was lodged at the county jail.
Criminal mischief: Police were called to a disturbance in the 500 block of 10th Street at 1 a.m. on Dec. 25. Magdaleno Acuna Hernandez, 49, of Glenwood Springs had become upset when his family tried to take alcoholic drinks away from him, and punched a hole in the wall. He was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief and lodged at the county jail.
Violation of restraining order: An officer contacted an intoxicated man in the police department parking lot at 3:50 a.m. on Dec. 25, and determined that the man was under a court order barring him from drinking. Alex Thomas Velasquez, 36, of Aspen was arrested for violating the court order and lodged in the county jail.
Violation of restraining order: Police responded to a disturbance at a motel in the 51800 block of Highway 6 in West Glenwood at 10:25 p.m. on Dec. 26. Sonny Leroy Trantham, 41, of Glenwood Springs was arrested for violating a court order barring him from drinking.
Walking under the influence: Police observed a man urinating at Eighth and Grand at 2 a.m. on Dec. 27. Thomas Suazo, 26, of Glenwood Springs was arrested for walking on a public road while under the influence and for urinating in public.
