Glenwood swim club wins meet for first time ever

Sopris Barracuda swimmer Kendall Vanderhoof competes at last weekend's Western Slope Championships meet in Grand Junction.

For the first time in the club’s history, the Sopris Barracudas swim team won last weekend’s Western Slope Championships in Grand Junction.

The Barracudas racked up 1,007.5 points to edge Durango (898.5).

David Hecksel (8-and-under boys), Charlie Mechling (11-12 girls) and Lily Thorsen (15-and-over girls) were all high-point winners in their age groups for the Barracudas.

Next up for Sopris is the March 4-6 Colorado State Championships meet in Fort Collins.
