Glenwood tops Tigers’ JV team

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Taking two out of three singles matches and three out of four doubles showdowns, Glenwood Springs’ girls tennis team scored a 5-2 win over Grand Junction’s junior varsity squad on Thursday.

The Demons’ Courtney Bender and Sarai Zilm were victorious at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Bender knocked off the Katie Paregian in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) and Zilm swept past Whitney Robison (6-3, 6-4).

At No. 1 doubles, Cari Barber and Kenzie Hill picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Grand Junction’s Stephanie Wahlers and Anne Hughes.



Glenwood’s Whitney Bridger and Sarah Maner teamed up to top Natalie Sufka and Lizzie Wald at No. 3 doubles (7-5, 6-3) and Emily Garling and Brandi Vinger outlasted the Tigers’ Emily Welsby and Krista Lally (5-7, 7-6(2), 10-6) at No. 4 doubles.

Next on the schedule for the Demons is a Monday trip to Vail Mountain. On Tuesday, Glenwood travels to face Aspen.
