Glenwood wins first tennis dual

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – All three singles players for the Glenwood Springs High School girls tennis team earned victories on Thursday, helping the Demons to a season-opening 5-2 dual-match victory over Hotchkiss at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

Sarai Zilm beat Ciara Burdik at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, Claire Colcott topped Mariah Adams 6-0, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 2 singles, and Sadie Dickinson won her No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 6-3, over Mandi Chermack.

Earning a three-set victory at No. 3 doubles was Hannah Nilsson and Lindsay Hoffman, who rallied to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-6. Kenia Farias and Corrine Passey won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 doubles to cap the Demons’ team scoring.

The Demons lost their matches at No. 2 and 3 doubles.

Glenwood is off until 4 p.m. next Thursday when it travels upvalley to face Aspen in a dual match.
