Glenwood’s Lundin takes 2nd in boys slalom

The Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club’s Travis Lundin skis to a second-place finish in Saturday’s Rocky/Central Division J3 Junior Olympics boys slalom at Aspen Highlands. AVSC athletes swept the podium for a fourth time in four races at these JOs, with Andrew Hancock securing gold this time around with an impressive two-run combined time of 1 minute, 24.94 seconds. Lundin (1:27.24) and Tristan Lane (1:27.83) rounded out the podium. Teammates Xon Baker, Colby Lane, Luke Prosence and Scott Houtsma finished 10th, 17th, 23rd and 26th, respectively. Steamboat Springs’ Serina Kidd won the girls race with a time of 1:31.94. Team Breckenridge’s Katy Harris (1:33.59) and Buck Hill’s (Minn.) Erin Olejnik (1:33.80) finished second and third. Among AVSC competitors, Erin Spence led the way with a 17th-place finish – the highest of the week for the local girls. Teammates Zoe Spanos and Sonja Gagen wound up 33rd and 51st, respectively.
