Go Demons!

Dear Editor,

I read a letter to the Editor in the Post Independent Thursday regarding Glenwood Springs High School’s mascot and the seniors’ homecoming painted windows on Grand Avenue. The woman who wrote the letter was offended by the “larger than life mural of the devil” and seemed worried about what tourists might think. I had the complete opposite reaction.

When I saw the senior window for the first time, I was on foot standing right underneath it. I was awestruck by the amount of creativity, technical expertise, time and effort that went into the powerful composition. The artistry of the scene reflected an enormous amount of school pride. And I was proud of the kids.

Anyone who hasn’t seen the window should make a point to do so. It’s at the US Bank at 802 Grand Ave. Try going on foot to see the detail and get the full impact of the huge devil looming over you. And remember, it’s just a picture.

Go Demons!
