She’s served on the board for 14 years.Board president Jay Rickstrew read Goosens’ letter to the board Tuesday. “It is with much heartfelt sorrow that I have come to the decision, however, I believe it is the best solution for the school district and myself due to health circumstances,” Goosens wrote.Goosens said in her letter that she will still be as involved as she can be and plans to help pass out diplomas at the Rifle High School graduation ceremony in May.Goosens, who could not be reached for comment on Wednesday, represented Re-2’s District A, which encompasses, the area around RHS and north Rifle. The school board will officially announce Goosen’s position vacant at the next board meeting on April 25 and will then have 60 days to fill her spot. School board members will interview applicants and appoint one to represent District A until Goosens would have been up for election in November 2007, said Re-2 superintendent Gary Pack.
