Government offices, libraries closed for New Year’s holiday

Garfield County government offices and the county landfill will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

All six branches of the Garfield Public Libraries will close early, at 5 p.m., on Monday Dec. 31, and remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Normal library hours will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 2, with all six libraries opening at 10 a.m.

State driver’s license offices, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s vital records office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Service Centers and administrative offices for executive branch departments will be among the facilities closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

State parks will be open and staffed, but administrative offices and visitor centers will be closed. State troopers will be patrolling the highways and Department of Transportation maintenance crews and plows will be working as necessary.

Certain county services, such as emergency functions of the Sheriff’s Office, the Coroner’s Office, and Criminal Justice Services, will be operating Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The Garfield County Regional Airport will be open for general aviation, weather permitting, but the airport’s administrative offices will close.
