Grand Junction man held in connection with son’s murder

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Allen Lee Grabe, 51, was booked into the Mesa County Jail early Friday in connection with his son’s murder.

Grabe was jailed on charges including first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, for the alleged shooting death of a 13-year-old at 3045 Wedgewood Ave., which was called into sheriff’s deputies just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to dispatch radio traffic, the boy’s mother called 911 and reported her husband had shot her son in the head.



A 911 dispatcher described hearing “several gunshots” while taking the call and the husband yelling at his wife.

Shortly after that, an ambulance crew cleared the call “DOA” within minutes of their arrival.



According to Mesa County assessor records, the home is owned by Allen Grabe and Jaquette Grabe.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office today is expected to release the boy’s identity.
