Amanda Holt MillerWestern Garfield County Staff

Grand River Hospital District is offering area athletes free sports physicals. Staff at the Battlement Mesa Medical Center offered physicals to girls from Garfield County School District 16 last night. Boys can get physicals at the medical center tonight. Staff will work from 4 p.m. until everyone is cared for.If students miss the physicals this week, they can visit the Grand River Medical Center in Rifle in July. Girls can get free physicals in Rifle after 5 p.m. July 20. Boys can visit the center after 5 p.m. July 21.There is no need to register. Students will be helped on a first-come, first-serve basis.”It’s important because a lot of kids might not be able to afford to play sports if they had to pay for the physical,” said Kris Daler, the director of public relations for the Grand River Hospital District.
