Grand Valley Kiwanis sponsor breakfast for National Day of Prayer on Thursday

The Grand Valley Kiwanis Club is sponsoring a breakfast at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center from 7:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, the National Day of Prayer.Dr. Ron King, a former priest, will be the keynote speaker. King spent 10 years studying and teaching theology, philosophy and literature after he was ordained. Later, he requested and received a release from his priesthood obligations from Pope Paul VI. King went on to become a management consultant. He moved to Crossroads Assisted Living in Rifle in March.The breakfast will feature homemade pineapple pie, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee, which Kiwanis members will prepare.The Jubilee Quartet from Grand Junction and Walt Smith will provide music. Tickets are $4 at the door.
