Grand Valley wins big, Aspen ousted from playoffs

PARACHUTE ” Grand Valley kept its perfect season alive as they rolled into the second round of the Class1A state football playoffs with a 42-14 win over Burlington Saturday in Parachute.

Led by Colton Cowan’s 271 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, the Cardinals pushed their record to 10-0 on the season.

Grand Valley will travel to Wray next Saturday.

In Class 2A, the Aspen Skiers, making their first appearance in the playoffs since 1974, were defeated by Eaton 30-7 to end their season.

Glenwood Springs will open the Class 3A playoffs at home next Saturday after winning the Western Slope League title with an undefeated 10-0 record.

Rifle will be the WSL’s fourth seed and begin the playoffs on the road.

Both teams will find out tomorrow who they will play in the first round.
