Greater needs than a golf course

Dear Editor,

Ken Cox, from Long Beach, Calif., should be aware that Glenwood weather is quite different from Long Beach, and so is the “golfing” season.

Citizens for Responsible City Spending (CRCS) is composed of locals (some golfers) who are concerned that City Council chose a funding method that does an end run around a vote of the people of Glenwood.

Five of the seven council members did this, despite the fact that a golf course was voted down twice, very little public discussion was held, the course would be on geologically unstable soil, would use lots of precious water, and would saddle our city with millions and millions of dollars of debt for many years to come.

Our city has greater needs than another golf course, such as a performing arts center (also a source of revenue) and getting State Highway 82 off of Grand Avenue.
