Special to the Post Independent

Glenwood Springs, CO -Gregg Rippy has been selected as a recipient of the Defender of the American Dream Award for 2002 from the Colorado Association of Home Builders. The award was based upon several criteria, including Gregg Rippy’s support for private property rights and other issues that help make housing available to many throughout the state.

The Defender of the American Dream Award will be presented to Mr. Rippy during a ceremony at the annual Rocky Mountain Builder Conference on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Park Hyatt Resort and Spa in Beaver Creek.

Gregg Rippy is the State House Representative for District 61, as well as the president and co-owner of Grand River Construction. As House District 61 Representative, Rippy defends Western Slope interests on the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee, the Water Resources Review Committee, the Appropriations Committee and the Information and Technology Committee. He is also the chairman of the Arts Caucus, and the founder of the Sportsman’s Caucus.

Gregg Rippy is running for his second term as House Representative in this fall’s election. He assumed Russell George’s seat in the State Legislature when the former House Speaker stepped down to become the chief of the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Rippy then won the election for District 57 in 2000. With this year’s redistricting decision, Rippy became the incumbent for the new District 61.
