Grizzly Squirts remain strong

The top-ranked Glenwood Grizzly Squirt B team continued its undefeated record in league play last Saturday with a tie and a win over the second-place Summit Lightning team.

In a tight morning match, the Grizzlies skated to a 2-2 tie behind strong hustle by Blake Exelbert and Max Mencimer, who had a goal apiece.

In the afternoon match, the Grizzlies held Summit to a shutout score of 2-0, with Exelbert and Cooper Knott scoring goals and Jacob Fowler giving the Glenwood team a defensive advantage.

On Feb. 2, the Grizzly Squirt B Team scored two wins over Steamboat Springs.

The Grizzlies had a shutout score of 4-0 against Steamboat, with strong defensive skills displayed by Jacob Fowler, Kai Hill, and by goalie Rio Kauffman.

Defenseman Max Mencimer scored his third goal of the season, and Nolan McPherson had a hat trick of three goals. Tomas Bensch fought hard on right wing and added a point.

The Grizzly Squirt B Team travels to Denver this weekend for tournament at the University of Denver.
