The H1N1 flu vaccine is now available to the general public, and no longer limited to specific target groups, the Garfield County Public Health Department announced Friday.

The H1N1 flu clinics will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, and at the Rifle Public Health Office (across from City Market).

The H1N1 vaccine is free if received through Public Health. Children 9 years old and younger need two doses of the vaccine.

Additional seasonal flu vaccine clinics are also planned this coming week, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at Ace Hardware in Carbondale and at Fred’s Hardware in Rifle.

Seasonal flu clinics are open to anyone age 6 months and older, according to the Public Health office. The cost for a seasonal flu shot is $20 for adults and $10 for children.
