Harry Wilkie Mussell, 91, of New Castle, passed away Nov. 28, 2008, at E. Dene Moore Care Center in Rifle.

Harry was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Ringwood, N. J., to Harry G. and Mary (Buchan) Mussell.

He married Laura Engelke Oct. 16, 1940. They spent the next 30 years in New Jersey before moving to Colorado in 1970.

Harry was a proud member of the Rotary club and had 32 years of perfect attendance. He was a founding member of the Upper Colorado Board of Realtors and founded Holiday West Realty in Glenwood Springs in the mid-’70s.

Harry thought of himself as quite a cowboy poet and loved to share his works with family and friends. Above all, he was happiest down in the basement working in his wood shop.

Harry is survived by his children Harry Jr. of New York, George of Brush, Jack of Florida, Bonnie of Washington State and Laurie of Mesquite, Nevada; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 82, New Castle, CO 81647.

A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Castle, with Father E.J. Rivet officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Highland Cemetery in New Castle.

Rifle Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
