Photo Essay: Coal Ridge’s Coach Harvey, on court and beyond

Paul Harvey, a New Castle native, started coaching basketball at Grand Valley High School nearly 20 years ago in 2000.

It wasn’t until 8 seasons later that he changed schools and became a Coal Ridge Titan.

“Coal Ridge was always a goal of mine; it’s just home,” said Harvey. “Its the dream place I wanted to work.”

The connections made with players is what keeps Harvey entering the gym after many, many seasons.

“I just enjoy building relationships with players and being able to connect with them on a deeper level than teaching,” said Harvey.

Harvey’s expertise goes beyond the court, he also teaches AP Psychology, AP research, US History, a CMC college credit history class and Film Studies.
