Headline misleading on Four Mile drainage

Dear Editor,

I found your June 19 article (especially the headline) on the status of the Four Mile Road drainage mitigation plans misleading.

Drainage improvements on Four Mile Road need to be made regardless of whether the voters support Red Feather Ridge or not.

The Board of County Commissioners made a conscious decision not to become involved in any discussion that would sway the voters on Red Feather Ridge, believing that this is a very important and far-reaching issue for area residents to determine.

Now, during the final phase of the election, the Post Independent has decided to portray a county position via an article headline. This should not have happened.

The cost of road maintenance is always expensive, but be assured this project will not “drain county funds.” This is a complex discussion that involves more than drainage on Four Mile Road.

Thank you for your time,

Tresi Houpt

Garfield County Commissioner
