Heelan will be missed

Dear Editor,

Having attended the wonderful public reception in honor of retiring president Cynthia Heelan last Friday, it is easy to observe that she will be missed by many here in our part of the valley. The outpouring of love, admiration and respect for this talented administrator was evident as the throng grew. After attending the Thorgren, McNeil and Ayers concert last week and Macbeth before that it is easy to reflect on the outstanding leadership exhibited by Dr. Heelan at CMC over the past nine years or so as she brought CMC into the 21st Century. She leaves CMC well positioned to face the complex challenges now before us. Glenwood Springs and all of our neighboring campus communities are better places for her having come our way and we wish her well on whatever path she chooses next.
