Help decide the future of Re-2 education

Garfield School District Re-2 invites anyone who lives within the district to help decide the future of education in the area.

Re-2 is forming a facilities-needs committee made up of parents, staff and community members in New Castle, Silt and Rifle. The group will examine local demographics including projected student populations, existing district facilities, current and future classroom capacity and district financial information including property tax and mill information.

The committee will report back to the Re-2 board of education with recommendations for current school and district buildings as well as the need for future facilities based on growth projections.

The committee will meet the second Wednesday of each month at the Learning Opportunity Center in Rifle. The first meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 9. Anyone interested in participating should contact Theresa Hamilton at 625-7621.
