Helping hands, big hearts help Girl Scouts for 90 years

Dear Editor,

This year is Girl Scouts’ 90th anniversary. Girl Scouting’s success over the years is due to the helping hands and big hearts of volunteers! Without volunteers the Girl Scout program would not be possible. April 22 is designated as Girl Scout Leader’s Day, a day to acknowledge all leaders and volunteers.

In Glenwood, 20 individuals volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Chipeta Council. They are Andrea Thompson, Ann Lewis, Barbara Parquette, Cindy Frale, Debbie Crawford, Gretchen Heitzman, Jamboree Committee, Karen Stowe, Karla Fekley, Kristine Nemelka, Lori Massender, Paula Matheson, Pennie Archebald, Sandi McNulty, Stacey Barnum, Susan Shafer, Suzanne Basile, Tracy Smith, Virginia Gera and Willow Lepanto.

We thank these individuals for their dedication of time and service to Girl Scouting. Girl Scout volunteers provide every girl, everywhere, inspiration and mentorship in an accepting and nurturing environment.

The Girl Scouts of Chipeta Council represents a 13-county jurisdiction throughout western Colorado. Currently 2,700 girls participate in the Girl Scout program, and membership continues to grow.

Thank you again to the volunteers of Glenwood for your commitment to girls and helping them grow strong. Your BIG hearts deserve many BIG thanks!
