Those wishing to register for Thanksgiving food baskets through Lift-Up have until Friday, Nov. 12, to do so.Those wishing to register for Thanksgiving food baskets through Lift-Up have until Friday, Nov. 12, to do so.Lift-Up is also looking for donations of food and monetary for their holiday drive for both Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.”Any donations you make will go directly to support local families,” said Jeffrene Fowler, manager of the Rifle Lift-Up office. “For each donation you give, we can provide a donation receipt for your tax purposes.”Traditional holiday, nonperishable meal items are being sought, such as stuffing mix, canned vegetables, pie filling, roll mixes, Jell-O, canned milk, canned fruit and potatoes. Perishable items needed include meats such as a frozen turkey, ham or chicken; and fresh produce such as celery, onions, apples and oranges.Monetary donations are appreciated as well and may be sent to Lift-Up, P.O. Box 1213, Glenwood Springs, CO 81602.A donation of $13 will buy a small turkey or two chickens; $10 a ham; $4-$6 a baked pie and $40 a complete holiday dinner for a small family.Those needing meals should register at one location, providing a local address and phone number. Thanksgiving registrations will be taken through Nov. 12 and Christmas basket registrations from Monday, Nov. 29, through Friday, Dec. 3.Thanksgiving food baskets will be distributed on Monday, Nov. 22.
