Henry "Hank" Bendetti

Henry “Hank” Bendetti, a longtime resident of Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his home. He was 96.

Mr. Bendetti was born Aug. 10, 1905, in southern Colorado and moved with his family to Silt Mesa when he was a young child. He was a coal miner for most of his life and operated coal mines in South Canyon and Harvey Gap.

His free time was spent participating in or watching sports. He loved watching baseball. He also spent many enjoyable years bowling on leagues at the Glenwood bowling alley and in the past two years had been bowling at the Superbowl in New Castle. He bowled his last games there on the day he died.

Mr. Bendetti is survived by Vicki, his wife of 68 years; daughters and sons-in-law Lorraine and Joe McNeal of New Castle and Gloria and Al Gabossi of Golden, Colo.; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; brother Louie Bendetti of Glenwood Springs; sister and brother-in-law Rose and John Pilati of Glenwood Springs; sister Teresa Antonelli of Rifle; and several nieces and nephews.

No services will be held; cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Developmental Services, P.O. Box 338, Glenwood Springs, CO 81602.
