High school demolition to begin today

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. Demolition work at Glenwood Springs High School is scheduled to begin today.The arts and science wings located near 14th Street and the current school administrative offices will be torn down along with the former junior high section of the campus.Work this summer is part of a phased construction project to be complete in early 2008. It will add about 38,000 square feet of new space and 4.5 acres of land.Plans call for new classrooms to be finished by the start of the next school year, but the entire project won’t be finished until January or February.The new building is designed to take full advantage of natural light and surrounding views with a wall of glass to the north and four projecting hallways to the south. The new south-facing main entrance will feature a glassed front with high, curving walls to either side, according to the Roaring Fork School District Re-1.Post Independent, Glenwood Springs Colorado CO
