Highway 133 bridge at Carbondale closed Monday night
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
The Roaring Fork River Bridge at the intersection of state highway 133 and highway 82 at the Carbondale entrance will be closed from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Construction crews will be working in the area during that time to set formwork on one of the new pier caps for the bridge widening project that is underway. Southbound traffic can use alternate routes on Westbank and Hardwick Bridge Road (County Roads 154 and 109) to Carbondale. Northbound traffic can access the town by using Catherine Store Road (CR 100) Monday night. Variable message signs will be in place to notify motorists of the detour.
Additional periodic night closures of the bridge will be required throughout the project to allow for safe bridge construction while minimizing impacts to motorists.
The current two-lane traffic configuration at the bridge will be maintained throughout the project with minor traffic shifts at the approaches to the bridge and occasional alternating single-lane traffic during non-peak periods, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
